My development of photography will continue to link literally to the concept of digital exposure. Our online persona's are directly linked to our imagination, Technology allows us to stitch together our own Identity via digital tools. We may even aim to directly live our life through such a form of identity.
The series are based upon an application movement directly linked to the development of technology. This allows and informs the digital world, producing an art movement within itself.
This is a culture which I am personally interested in, Inspired by early expressionist artists such as Basquiat and Andy Warhol, to our modern version of controversial Banksy. All artists pushing contemporary art allowing an endless range of perception as to what modern art is moving toward.
This allows the viewer to directly link to the message which is communicated, The meaning behind the 'piece'.
What I am trying to perceive is that within contemporary Art practise we have unlimited access to such technology, that with a click of a button, allows us to produce, replicate, manipulate and communicate a form of meaning within the art/digital realm. Without disregarding sociological, psychological, physical, biological factors but to focus literally on our digital identity. This technology allows the artist/ creator to open themselves up to global, international exposure from the comfort of their home.
in Translation to producing photographs which communicate exposure I will begin to emulate the concept of
A - Physical exposure of one self, How as people we stitch together a persona of ourselves allowing our projection of what one would want to be perceived as. This is where applying A, a physical application to self portraiture, in which I have interacted with this digital culture. Involving printouts of a large poster where I piece together myself. B-exposing myself Via metaphorically posting, sticking and applying myself to be viewed publicly. Which is to be physically processed via being the photographer to digitally enhancing, to be published online to further publicise exposure.
B-Once this shoot is achieved I will begin to push the means of manipulating the photograph to represent how we are moulded, effected and twisted by the digital realm, But how we continue to project our self, to grow into a character. This involves using the projector to project yourself further out to being exposed as we broaden our network online. (I have only had face book for one year and within the past year I have experienced a sense of growth as to how many friends, events and socially I have become more aware of my surroundings. The black space around the images will aim to draw you within the circle of projection to allow the viewer to feel the separation from the real world, as well as to emphasise the boundaries between reality and what seems as an expansion on oneself.
C-Once We have started to create our own identity online It is impossible to erase, as we have become embedded in memories, we are a pixel. This concept of distillation and multiple exposures apply. Once the process of exposing self portrait's, then projecting and re photographing the earlier photographs, the connection of further processing occurs. No matter how hard we may try to erase these projections of identity, we are left with a void, a threshold of where we are and where we want or who we want to be. These projections begin to feel lost, much like over writing a Cd Rom, This is communicated through the process of multiple transparencies, exposures and multiple identities. But they still exist, and are apart of who we are as a person. This presence creates a form of haptic sense which lingers and is constantly apparent although you can not physically touch this presence it still effects the way you are. The way you a moulded as a person.
Although Analysing every situation is difficult, and with such a complex concept I will communicate the images as literal as possible this will be a process of re photographing photos, printing, pasting, projecting, re photographing, multiple exposures and good old photoshop
