'The Girl and the White Balloon'

Final Narrative

The Narrative explores the concept of restriction in relation to freedom. Where once spatial boundaries restricted movement and confined a particular spatial experience, the freedom of no boundaries forms a narrative. The concept of using a balloon within a confined space to a space with no restrictions allows a narrative to form. This is easily read presented within a child book like design.
This is translated simply with the use of a balloon. It literally explores a narrative, but also forms a strong spatial experience.
Like in the film 'The Boy and the Red Balloon', the balloon becomes the dominant part of the journey where it was once just about the boy. The narrative revolves completely around the actions of the balloon. This in real life relates to how a spatial experience can always linger with us no matter what, and over time this may mould influence and change the way we think or act.
