Proposal Thoughts
after watching a documentary on Kieth Harring, it made me realise how hard it was in the 80's to be an artist, to have your work viewed compared to today. Kieth began on the streets, street graffiti some may say, but to me the beginnings of real expressionism a true artform. Although some may argue that it was easier to be an artists in the 80's as you had a chance to be original, but I disagree.
Art before the Internet, photoshop and the general digital realm, was raw, real and down to talent. Today it is to easy for a person to take a photograph and call them selves a photographer on flicker, and far to easy to fall into the trap of thinking it actually is art. Personally art involves skill, talent, and philosophy.
Flicker is a perfect example of how millions of people do just this. Thus their identity is born, is this truth? is this real?
My Project will be an experiment based on how people react to imagery, which will explore numerous forms of media, I will take my reaction from my view to identify my input in this realm of artists. This will begin by placing my self from real to surreal. Driven by the desire to create my own personal augmentation of the digital realm.
